The Packers continued to build on defense Friday night when they drafted Auburn defensive tackle Montravius Adams with their third-round pick (93rd overall).

The Packers’ new defensive tackle not only was drafted into the NFL on Friday, but he and his girlfriend also welcomed their first child, Montravius Jr., into the world earlier in the day.
“He has good size but he’s also tremendously quick and explosive at the line of scrimmage,” Thompson said. “He has natural hand-use that’s hard to teach. He’s been a good player, very much recommended by the staff there. We were surprised and elated that he was available at the time we picked him.”
Washington cornerback Kevin King is 6-3, able to match up against big receivers yet move from the boundary to the slot despite that size. North Carolina State safety Josh Jones can play centerfield, near the line of scrimmage, as a linebacker, or as a cover guy. Auburn defensive lineman Montravius Adams is big enough to play on the nose, agile enough to scoot over, and produced 4½ sacks as an inside rusher last season.
The Packers thought enough of King that they turned down multiple trade offers for the top pick in the second round (No. 33 overall) and didn’t risk him getting away. At nearly 6-2 and 220 pounds, Jones is “an excellent physical specimen” who Thompson believes is “going to surprise people when they see what he can do.”
“I’d characterize myself as a dual-threat quarterback and a guy who can make plays with his feet when things aren’t there,” Hill said. “I think my biggest thing is I want to do whatever it takes to win football games. Sometimes that’s taking a few extra hits that our coaching staff wasn’t super-thrilled about. But I want to go give our team the best chance to win. That’s kind of my mindset.”
After signing with Green Bay, Hill quickly began trading messages with Detmer. The decision also reunited Hill with BYU running back Jamaal Williams, the Cougars’ all-time leading rusher whom the Packers selected in the fourth round (134th overall).

The two were members of the same 2012 recruiting class and have been in constant communication since Hill agreed to sign with the Packers.
“I love the kid and he’s deserved everything he’s achieved and everything that’s come his way,” Hill said of Williams. “We kind of laughed together during spring ball last year that it was 2016 and we were still on the field together. We were like, ‘Who would have thought this would’ve been the situation?’ I’m glad it worked out the way that it did.”
Jamaal Williams has never forgotten where he came from and the road he’s traveled in his football career.
While there were ups and downs along the way, the 6-foot, 211-pound running back finished his college career as BYU’s all-time leading rusher and ultimately became a fourth-round pick (No. 134 overall) of the Packers.
With the second of their two fourth-round draft picks, the Packers picked up a running back. The Packers selected BYU senior Jamaal Williams jersey with the 134th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the first traditional running back they’ve selected since 2013. Williams, the Cougars’ all-time leading rusher, gained 3,901 yards on the ground with 35 rushing touchdowns in 42 career games for the Cougars. The 6-foot, 211-pound running back left school for personal reasons in 2015, but returned this past year to lead BYU with 1,375 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in only 10 games, including a 287-yard, five-touchdown performance against Toledo.
