The Green Bay Packers have signed CB Damarious Randall. The signing was announced Tuesday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.
Randall has missed the last five games and six of the past seven due to a groin injury, and as Green Bay’s secondary has been victimized by big plays the past two games, he’s been sorely missed. “Just taking it day by day. Today was a productive day,” the second-year Packers cornerback said after Friday’s practice. “As long as my body is feeling good, I guess the injury feels good.” Damarious Randall wasn’t promising he’d be back in action on Monday night in Philadelphia, but signs are pointing to it being a realistic possibility.
The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc. today announced that Mike Daniels will be honored with the Hall’s ‘Most Valuable Player’ award, presented by Miller Coors, and Damarious Randall will be honored with the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award, presented by Ariens, at the 46th Packers Hall of Fame Induction Banquet. Former players Chad Clifton and Nick Collins, and former broadcaster Russ Winnie will become the newest members of the Hall at the banquet, to be held the evening of July 23, 2016, in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

In the first preseason game last week, it was rookie cornerback Quinten Rollins proving he belonged on an NFL field. In the second, it was Damarious Randall’s turn.
Getting his first preseason action Sunday in Pittsburgh after sitting out last week’s game in New England with a groin injury, Randall made an impressive leaping interception on the first play of the third quarter, snaring Landry Jones’ deep ball intended for Martavis Bryant along the sideline.
Noted for his ball skills as a safety in college at Arizona State, Randall showed the athleticism that made him a first-round pick back in April.
The only thing the Packers’ second-year cornerback had on his mind was getting his hands on the football during Green Bay’s second preseason game on Thursday night.
Randall, who lined up against Cooper during his two-touchdown performance in December, turned the tables on the Pro Bowl receiver with a brilliant leaping second-quarter pick off Carr.
It was a meaningful play for Randall, but not because it came on a Carr pass intended for Cooper. A rough couple of games won’t make Damarious Randall crawl into a shell.

The Packers’ second-year cornerback hasn’t played his best the past two contests. That’s been obvious. But it hasn’t made him question his abilities or suffer from any crisis of confidence.
Quinten Rollins had taken four years off from football but thought his first day back would be just like riding a bike.
“The first day was definitely rough,” Rollins said, referring to his debut at spring football practice at Miami of Ohio last year, his first football action since high school after four years on the basketball court.
The Packers don’t have second-year CB Quinten Rollins for today’s playoff game vs. the Giants, but overall they are as healthy as they’ve been in a while. Pressed into action, the two rookie cornerbacks responded to their early playing time with 89 tackles and five interceptions on the NFL’s sixth-ranked pass defense.
That first training camp proved to the Green Bay Packers jersey china that Randall and Rollins could play. Now, the second has been about determining where they fit best in the defense.
They needed the three rookie cornerbacks to play well.
The departure of Tramon Williams and Davon House in free agency left the Packers with a lot of questions in their secondary heading into the 2015 season.
The trio answered every one of them. While they all had their rookie moments, Randall, Rollins and Gunter contributed to what turned out to be the NFL’s sixth-ranked pass defense.
As promising as the debut was, though, cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt Jr. will be the first to say the education is far from over. When Quinten Rollins got his hands on his first NFL interception, he saw only one thing.
